A bold and theatrical approach to contemporary decoration…
A brand new collection from Tarabya, D’Aronco derives its name from the Italian architect Raimondo D’Aronco who has served as the court architect for 16 years and introduced Art Nouveau to İstanbul’s architecture with numerous remarkably unique works.
Hugely inspired by the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements, D’Aronco is a very extensive and rich collection that harmonized and blended together these movements with others that influenced them in an eclectic approach.
The characteristic aspects of Art Nouveau such as organic motifs, fluid continuous lines, curvy forms and distinctive architectural details are brought together with Art Deco’s linear and clean shapes, geometric and symmetrical patterns in a rather contradictory way compared to mainstream decoration trends. With these unique fabrics, D’Aronco offers a sumptuous and luxurious look to interior decoration.
During the design process, some inspirational figures and elements had significant effects on the design team, such as the textile designs of the iconic designer William Morris, the Arts and Crafts Movement, architectural works and furniture designs of one of the main figures of the British Art Nouveau, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and also the stained glass doors and ironworks of the period as well as the highly crafted Art Deco jewelry such as earrings and brooches.
Identified with modernism and luxury, the extravagant and theatrical style of Art Deco and the usage of rare materials at the time such as ivory, silver and mother-of-pearl were strong influences on the designing process of the textures of fabrics that feature subtly shimmering grounds and semi glittery satin surfaces.
Extra smooth satin weave grounds with high density, pearl-like shadowy effects on backgrounds, silky and luxurious textures are the main characteristics of D’Aronco.
D’Aronco comes in versatile colourways that range from bold and glamorous colours reflecting the Art Deco spirit to much more calmer tones. Colour combinations that stand out in the collection are black and mustard gold, silver grey and Atlantic blue, burnt Sienna and toasted almond, plum purple, red ochre, and pearled ivory.
